Creating Social Value

With its history dating back to 1905, the MATADOR Group is one of the oldest and most respected businesses in Slovakia. Despite our business success and position in the Slovak economy, we still do not forget about the communities in which we operate. Doing business in a socially responsible way is the cornerstone of our core values.


Integrity

Similarly to other socially responsible companies, the MATADOR Group has its own ethical code of conduct. Based on our company values it is a binding document for all employees in our Group. It sets out the principles of conduct for our Group and employees as well as for external partners dealing with us. The code obliges all employees to act in accordance with ethical principles and integrity in the process of achieving business goals.

Moreover, the MATADOR Group has also become a member of the Slovak Compliance Circle, which is the initiative of Slovak business actors to promote business ethics in Slovakia. The reason rests with our belief that a sound and fair business environment is necessary for a successful long-term development of every society.


Support to societies

Support of activities beneficial to local societies in the regions where we operate is close to our hearts.  Therefore, we established the MATADOR Foundation (www.nadaciamatador.sk) in 2002. It focuses on the following areas:

  • protection and promotion of spiritual, natural and cultural values;
  • protection and promotion of human rights;
  • protection of environment through prevention and promotion of socially beneficial activities aimed at environmental protection;
  • support to educational and healthcare systems – mostly by supporting students and healthcare workers in their additional educational activities or by supporting the publication of educational books;
  • social, healthcare and financial support to disabled children, youth and citizens in order to reach their full integration into society;
  • aid to persons who not by their own fault end up in a difficult life situation

We are among Slovak companies who promote sports activities as one of the top sponsors. In addition to the support of car racing, the MATADOR Group has been a long-term general partner of the Slovak Olympic Committee.


Support of R&D

Training new generations of scientists is essential to strengthening competitiveness of any developed national economy. To this end, we actively participate at various fairs in order to promote technical study programmes (CVTI Week of Science and Technology, Elosys, Newmatec, Trenčín Robotics Days …) and we will continue to jointly promote science and technology at high schools.

The MATADOR Group continuously develops cooperation with universities as well. One of many examples is the project of “student incubator” executed in cooperation with the Slovak University of Technology (STU) in Bratislava. Its main idea is to give students the opportunity to use their acquired knowledge in real-life situations.

Our Group has also successfully began cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (FEI) of Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. In spring 2015, after a huge demand from students, we created a robotic cell in the National Robotics Centre in cooperation with our suppliers KUKA and SMC. The lab, which was financed by us, is equipped with a new robot including additional technologies. 

We are convinced that in this way we can significantly contribute to the development of science and technology, which has so far been an area with lack of sources despite its indisputable benefits to the economy.
